Sierra Foothills - Home of Sol Rei Winery
With the craggy canyons, rugged pines, and the contrast of acres of manicured vineyards where vines have overcome the hardships of nature, the Sierra Foothills offer a very special experience where you can immerse yourself in the stark beauty and bounty of nature without large amounts of traffic, people, or commercialized ventures. I often wonder if this is how Napa felt in the early 1970's.
Refined Wines Expertly Crafted
In this understated setting, world-class wines are being made. What makes the wine so good? A perfect confluence of outstanding wine-making talent that migrated from Napa and UC Davis to the Sierra Foothills, a climate that has high daytime temps and low nighttime temps that intensifies the juice in the wine grapes as they grow, and a terroir and a community full of grit, radiating toughness in adversity and extraordinary resilience (both vines and people weathering drought and fires).
For Sol Rei Wine, putting down business roots here made perfect sense. We feel very fortunate to be part of this incredibly talented community dedicated to the purest form of traditional winemaking where the pursuit of excellence is valued over commercial gains. Family-owned and operated vineyards and wineries are the fabric of the community, each celebrating pride in achievement and generously sharing knowledge.
